U SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIP - QF 3 + 4

The Gaiters outlast the Thunderbirds in OT; Toronto keeps its cool against UNB and a red sea

Day two of quarter-final action featured the first overtime match of the tournament between Bishop’s University and University of British Columbia. The evening match-up was a sea of red as University of New Brunswick fell to last year’s silver medalist, University of Toronto.

Woolwich Memorial Centre has now proven itself to all teams as a stellar host for national championship matches. The Gaiters edged the Thunderbirds 4-3 in extra time and the Blues eventually got two goals past the Reds to defeat the second East Coast team.

We did not have the opportunity to speak with representatives from Bishop’s or UBC.
